ZIP Settings

When reports are generated using Docentric File or Email print destinations, starting with v3.5.1 you can ZIP the output files.

ZIP settings are configured in Print destination settings. Click the Options > More button to open the Additional print settings dialog:

You can select the ZIP mode already here or click the More button to open the detailed ZIP settings form.

The zipping feature is available in Docentric AX Free Edition.

ZIP Mode

Specify whether the report and/or its additional attachments configured as Separate attachments should be compressed into a ZIP file.

Available ZIP modes are:

  • None: don't zip anything.
  • Zip report: zip the report document itself.
  • Zip attachments: create a ZIP file containing report attachments only.
  • Zip report and attachments: create a ZIP file containing the report document and its attachments.
For the File print destination, the report and its attachments are automatically zipped when downloaded or saved to a remote location, even if zipping is not explicitly configured by user. ZIP mode applied in that case is Zip report and attachments.

ZIP Folders

Fields in this section are:

  • Zip with folder: turn this option on to create a root folder within the ZIP package. All files subject to zipping (according to the selected ZIP mode) are placed inside this folder. Folder name can be configured in the next field.
  • Zip folder name: enabled when the previous option is turned on, so that you can specify the folder name. If left empty, a default folder name, based on the report output filename, will be used.
  • Zip attachments with folder: turn this option on to create a dedicated folder for attachments within the ZIP file (if the attachments are subject to zipping). This is useful for keeping the master report document separate from attachments. Folder name can be configured in the next field.
  • Zip folder name for attachments: enabled when the previous option is turned on, so that you can specify the attachment folder name. If left empty, a default folder name Attachments is used.

Examples

Examples below demonstrate how the combination of Zip with folder and Zip attachments with folder options produce different results. All examples are based on the following setup:

  • ZIP filename: AAA.zip
  • ZIP folder name: BBB
  • ZIP folder name for attachments: CCC
  • Report document name: Report.PDF
  • Attachment names: Att1, Att2

ZIP Password

To increase the protection of generated ZIP files, enable the Protect ZIP with password flag. The ZIP file is then protected with the specified ZIP password, using the selected Encryption algorithm.

ZIP Placeholders

You can use all applicable Docentric placeholders in the following ZIP settings:

  • ZIP filename
  • ZIP folder name
  • ZIP folder name for attachments
  • ZIP password

For each field, you can enter the placeholder name manually or click the Insert placeholder menu item to choose from the list of available placeholders.
