SSRS, Electronic Reporting or Export to Word and Excel: Which to Use and When

Transactional Reporting in D365FO enables creating public facing documents but also internal reports. The technologies available in D365FO to support transactional reporting are SSRS, ER/Business Documents, Export to Word and Excel. SSRS requires code customization, while Electronic Reporting and Export to Word and Excel are configuration-based and can also be used by Functional Consultants and Power End Users.

Whether you are considering the move to D365FO, you are new to it, or you are simply planning to optimize your reporting, Jovica Živković, D365FO Technical Consultant will clarify in this session which technology of the above to choose, as well as their advantages and disadvantages.

And there will be a lot of practical examples 😍. Jovica will start by comparing SSRS and ER when making one simple and one more complex Sales Invoice datasource and format modification, combined with the typical print destination features. Next, he will demonstrate the Export to Word option by creating and using one Word template for a Sales Quotation. He will finally demonstrate the Export to Excel option on example of one custom Data entity. At the end we will summarize the demonstrated features with pros and cons for each of them.
