By highlighting women engineers from different STEM fields, the initiative aims to inspire more girls and young women to consider careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Celebrating Inženirka Leta 2025: Eva Pirc

This year's title of the Woman Engineer of The Year in Slovenia was awarded to Eva Pirc, a hardware design engineer at Dewesoft with a PhD in electrical and electronics engineering.

As Inženirka leta, Eva will spend the coming year visiting schools and public events as an ambassador for engineering. Her goal? To show students and young generation what a dynamic engineering career looks like, and ignite a passion for STEM in young minds.

Eva was selected from ten exceptional finalists, all women engineers working across diverse STEM fields.

Why the Visibility of Women Engineers Matters

Engineering has always been shaped by women as well as men.

Yet the achievements of women in engineering are still far too often overlooked.

That is why initiatives like Inženirka leta matter. By introducing today’s women engineers to the next generation, technical careers become far more relatable and achievable.

Visible role models show girls and young women that engineering is a path wide open to them too. The more diverse stories young people encounter, the easier it is for them to discover a path that feels right for their future.
