German legislation recognizes two key standards for electronic invoicing: XRechnung and ZUGFeRD. XRechnung is a structured XML format based on UBL or CII, and ZUGFeRD is a hybrid format that combines a human-readable PDF/A-3 file with an embedded XML file in the "Cross-Industry Invoice" (CII) syntax. Starting January 1, 2025, companies must be able to receive invoices in these two formats. By 2027, all companies will be required to issue B2B invoices in at least one of these formats. Currently, D365FO supports only the UBL-based XRechnung format, and Microsoft has not yet announced plans to support the ZUGFeRD standard.

In this session, we will demonstrate how to create ZUGFeRD-compliant invoices in a simple and configurable way, using ER Consult's electronic reporting configurations and Docentric AX reporting solution.
