DynamicsMinds 2025: How to Generate ZUGFeRD Compliant Electronic Invoices in D365FO

German legislation recognizes two key standards for electronic invoicing: XRechnung and ZUGFeRD. XRechnung is a structured XML format based on UBL or CII, and ZUGFeRD is a hybrid format that combines a human-readable PDF/A-3 file with an embedded XML file in the "Cross-Industry Invoice" (CII) syntax. Starting January 1, 2025, companies must be able to receive invoices in these two formats. By 2027, all companies will be required to issue B2B invoices in at least one of these formats. Currently, D365FO supports only the UBL-based XRechnung format, and Microsoft has not yet announced plans to support the ZUGFeRD standard.

In this session, we will demonstrate how to create ZUGFeRD-compliant invoices in a simple and configurable way, using ER Consult's electronic reporting configurations and Docentric AX reporting solution.

  1. Dear Docentric,
I noticed that Docentric has the Zugferd invoice on its roadmap. Could you please provide me information on when it will be available, in which version of Docentric, and whether this solution includes the XML file only or a PDF with embedded XML, especially in comparison to the ER Consult solution?
Thank you very much for your feedback.
    Best regards,

    1. Hi Klara,

Support for ZUGFeRD will be available by the end of this year in the next Docentric release. It will support all combinations: only ZUGFeRD XML, XML embedded in PDF, or XML and PDF as separate files. We are actually partnering with ER-Consult and using their ER configuration for generation of ZUGFeRD compliant XML file.

It will not only support ZUGFeRD, but will be a more general solution, allowing you to run ER configurations for different eInvoicing standards and scenarios.

      Kind regards,
      Albin
