Sharepoint acceess error

Hello, we have started having the error since the last Friday(or Saturday). We are on 10.0.43 PU67 (7.0.7521.243). [Update] interactive connection and batch connection are failing (Uploading reports to the default SP server). The error message is “Uploading file to SharePoint has failed. There was a problem with retrieving the destination folder”.

I tested the connection in Docentric AX parameters > Security > SP extended security settings > Test access for >Default SharePoint server and Organization administration > Document management > Document management parameters > SharePoint > Test batch SharePoint connection and Test interactive SharePoint connection. All of them are successful.

I upgraded Docenric from 3.4.9.1 to 3.4.9.2. But we still have the error.
Anyone else is having this error?

Thank you!

Hello, thank you for contacting us. Yes, we have already received the same error from multiple customers. We have successfully reproduced the issue you’re experiencing in our environment. It seems that Microsoft has made some changes related to configuration, and we have already contacted them regarding this.

Based on our experience, things tend to move faster when issues are also reported by customers or partners, but we leave that decision entirely up to you.
We will keep you updated on the progress of the resolution, and we kindly ask you to do the same in case you get in touch with Microsoft.

Hi Natasa, thank you so much for the information. It is very helpful. What would be the best way to describe this issue (or the changes Microsoft has made) to Microsoft in order to reach the product team? Thank you!

Hi @rurikookuno,

It has turned out that several API calls that Docentric is using stopped working when being called from batch job (it access SharePoint with app-only authentication) while everything works in interactive session which uses different authentication.

The problem affects several our customers (including our tenant), but some others can still run it successfully.

We use standard CSOM library (developed by MS) to access SharePoint and several its methods started throwing “Invalid reguest” last week when being called with app-only authentication. Apparently something changes on MS infrastructure.

Standard D365FO uses different SharePoint API, which still works, but it does not support all functionalities required by Docentric.

We have immediately contacted three MS engineer that we know from previous SharePoint cases, but none of them responded yet.

We have not yet opened a MS support case as our experience are quite disappointing if we open support case as ISV.

Therefore we would kindly ask you if you can open MS support case, provide the above description and put us in the loop for all technical questions.

We will also keep you updated about the progress.

Have a nice day!
Dragana

Thank you so much for the information. We will contact Microsoft. Do you have the same issue with Saving to External Azure Blob Storage? Also, can we use placeholders in the blob path just like SharePoint? We might suggest it as a workaround to our users. Thank you!

Hi @rurikookuno ,

Thank you for reporting the issue to Microsoft, we appreciate it!

The issue is present only when accessing SharePoint, Azure Blob Storage should be functioning without any problems. You can use placeholders in the blob path as expected.

For more details, please refer to our blog article:

Why would you want to print your D365FO reports to Azure storage?

Kind regards,
Dragana

hello - we are running into the same issue. Please let us know if you find a resolution!

Hi @iuhl,

We will let you know once we have more updates.
For now, we have opened SharePoint support ticket 2507151420001788.

Microsoft has now the repro steps and everything they need to tackle the root cause of the issue. If the customers can push Microsoft to raise the severity of issue and speed-up the resolution, that would be appreciated. But in that case, please refer to our support case.

Thank you!

Hello, I just wanted to check if there is any update on this issue?

Hello everyone,

I would like to inform you that the SharePoint issue seems to have been fixed by MS today (July 22, 2025) around 9:30 UTC. Since then, these errors are no longer found in the telemetry.

So far it is working as expected in our environments and also all customers and partners we have been in contact with report that the issue is no longer occurring.

You can run the test in your environments to see if everything works again.

Hi Albin,
It’s working fine now. Thank you so much for your support!

Is this still an issue? We are having issues connecting a dev VM to Sharepoint with Docentric print management. This is working on our tier 2 environment but we keep getting a not authorized message when we try and connect.

Hi CCulen,
This issue has been resolved. You need the latest version of Docentric AX, 3.4.9.2 at the moment. You should be able to connect to SharePoint from dev VM. Please see this forum post which describes what you need to do in order to connect, depending on which environment you are using.
