Print Destination to Azure File storage

Hi Peter,
No, the Azure Blob and SharePoint options have not been deprecated — you can still use them as valid options for saving documents. However, I will need to send you further instructions regarding the recent changes introduced by Microsoft and which version you can use.

What’s Changing?

Microsoft has introduced security updates affecting users of D365FO internal Azure Storage account and SharePoint. These changes are being applied broadly, often with little notice, and Microsoft does not always provide full details. We want to make sure you’re aware, as this could affect your Docentric experience.

Here are the key points:

  • SharePoint : In version 10.0.40, Microsoft added the Upgrade SharePoint user authentication feature which became mandatory in 10.0.42. Since March 13th Microsoft has blocked legacy SharePoint integration, so enabling this feature is now the only option to retrieve access token for SharePoint. Learn more details and how to adapt in our SharePoint Forum Post.
  • D365FO internal Azure Storage: Starting with version 10.0.41, Microsoft is enhancing security by switching to (Entra ID) managed identity role-based access for D365FO internal Azure Storage account and gradually deprecating the older storage account key method. See the Blog Article for details.

Impact on companies using Docentric

  • If you are using Sharepoint as storage for your Word report templates or if you are saving generated reports with the Print destination settings – Docentric > File > Save to SharePoint you should upgrade to the latest Docentric version 3.4.9.1.
  • If you are using Azure Blob storage as storage for your Word report templates or if you are saving generated reports with the Print destination settings – Docentric > File > Save to Azure Blob Storage with option for saving to the internal D365 Azure storage (if no Azure storage account is selected) you should upgrade to the latest Docentric version 3.4.9.1. Be aware that Print destination settings – Docentric > File > Save to Azure Files is deprecated with the latest Docentric version 3.4.9.1.

What You Need to Do
In case you encounter one of the scenarios described above, you will need to upgrade to the latest Docentric version 3.4.9.1. Please note that in order to remain compliant to the MS changes and keep your system running smoothly, we always recommend using the latest Docentric version
