Report Template set to company not being picked over default template

Attached is an image of our report templates. We need to only use the Proj Invoice template in 1083. But when we try to print using the original option, it only ever pulls the @Docentric_Default_Template@ no matter what is setup.

Has anyone ran across this issue? The same issue happens for us in 1082 as well.

Hi @Eulan_Franklin,

The Original Preview uses the report template that is set as default on the Templates section of the Report Setup form. You can set different report templates as default for different legal entities if needed or leave the Company field empty to use the same report template on all of the legal entities. The Template ID needs to be the same in this case.

The Print management preview option uses which ever report template is specified on the Print management itself.

You can set a specific report template to be used on the print destination executed via Print management or use a default report template.

Blaz,

Is there anyway this will be changed in the future? For my company, the business has multiple templates that I have to change the name for them to know which one they are trying to select since they have access to print management. This would be great to use even if you had different template id’s.

Thanks,

Eulan

Hi Eulan,

The standard SSRS pipeline works so that when printing with Copy/Original, there is always just one SSRS report format in the background, and this is hardcoded.

Docentric improves this by allowing you to assign different template designs for different companies. The Template ID needs to remain the same. Then, for each company, you can upload a different template design. This means you have the same Template ID but different designs, which will automatically resolve and provide the correct template.

Since having just one option to print was not enough, Microsoft introduced the Print Management framework, which allows you to create multiple copies, assign different print destinations, and set conditional printing rules for various scenarios and printing options.

For your case, it might be best to use the Print Management framework with conditional printing. You can create a condition for when a specific template should be used, and this will happen automatically without interfering with other Print Management settings.

You can check our how-to manual on Print Management to see how to set up conditions. Print Management in Simple Words - Docentric AX

Would this work for you?
