Microsoft plans to deprecate the IDCRL (Identity Client Run Time Library) authentication mechanism in SharePoint over the next few months, transitioning all authentication calls to OpenID Connect and OAuth-based protocols.
This change also impacts some Docentric users.
Affected customers
• Customers using the Online SharePoint Authorization authentication type.
As of now, Docentric does use IDCRL if and only if SharePointAuthorizationType=Online is selected in Docentic AX parameters. Most of the customers do not use it.
We will replace the use of IDCRL in the next Docentric version 3.5.1 that will be released in mid February.
Workaround
Microsoft has provided an official workaround that will remain supported until 30 April 2026. The workaround is described in detail in the following blog post:
