Fast and Efficient Support Required for Docentric Report Layout Issue – Line Items Overflow into Footer

Hi Team,

I am currently working on a project using Docentric for report generation, and I am encountering an issue related to the layout of line items in the report template.

Issue Description:

When the number of line records exceeds the capacity of a single page, instead of continuing properly on the next page, the additional lines are being rendered into the footer section of the report. As a result:

  • The footer content is overlapping with the line records.
  • This leads to misalignment and readability issues in the generated report.
  • The report does not maintain a consistent structure across pages.

Expected Behavior:
The line items should flow seamlessly across pages, and the footer should appear only once per page, clearly separated from the content section.

Request:
Could you please assist me in resolving this issue? Specifically, I would appreciate guidance on:

  • How to correctly define the repeating data section (lines) to ensure they do not extend into the footer.
  • Best practices for managing dynamic content over multiple pages in Docentric templates.
  • Any recommendations for restructuring the template layout to avoid this overlapping behavior.

Please let me know if you require the template file or sample output for better understanding.

Looking forward to your support.

Hello Usama,

Thank you for being part of our community.

Regarding the issue you described, please check the following in your template:

  1. Make sure the repeating section (lines) is placed in the body, not in the footer.
  2. Avoid dynamic content in the footer, it should only contain static elements like page numbers or dates.
  3. If you’re using a table for line items, bind the repeating section to table rows, not the whole table.
  4. Check if “Keep with next” or “Page break before” paragraph settings are causing layout issues.
  5. Remove any manual page breaks within the repeating section.

If these tips don’t help, I suggest you send us the template via support so we can take a look. Thank you
