Docentric Word Add-on Disabled? Here's Your Step-by-Step Solution

You have installed Docentric Designer and suddenly it is no longer available? We understand – it happens. Even if you have everything set up, it can happen that the plug-in takes a nap and deactivates itself. Why, you ask? Well, it could be anything from a software update to a clash with another add-on. But don’t worry – we’ll help you get it working again. Follow the next steps:

  1. In Word, navigate to File, and then select Options:

  1. In the Options window, access the Plugins section, and under the “Manage” dropdown, select “COM Add-ins.” Click the “Go” button to proceed:

  1. Ensure that the Docentric AX Designer Add-In for Microsoft Word is chosen, and confirm that the checkbox is marked. Click OK to proceed.

Close Word, open it again, and see if the Docentric AX menu is back. If it is, great job – you fixed it!

If you cannot find Docentric AX Designer among the COM Add-ins or if it’s disabled, preventing you from checking the checkbox, proceed to step 4 below.

  1. In Word, go to File, choose Options, click on Add-ins, select Disabled items, and hit Go.

  1. A window will appear, showing hard-disabled Add-ins. If you find Docentric AX Designer, click on it, and select Enable.

Close Word, reopen it, and check for the Docentric AX menu. If it’s there, congratulations – you’ve successfully activated it!

If the menu still doesn’t show up, there might be a problem with your Word installation. Consider installing Docentric AX Designer on another computer or, as a last resort, try reinstalling Office on your computer.
