In this tutorial, we will cover the scenario where we need to switch in bulk from using the built-in SSRS report design to Docentric default template in Print management setup.
Let’s say that you are using many vendor specific Print management settings configured to use the built-in SSRS report format (e.g. PurchPurhaseOrder.Report) but in the meantime you customized the Purchase order report using Docentric and now the new Docentric template should be used instead.
Likewise in the previous tutorial, we are going to export to Excel all these vendor specific Print management settings, by using the filter with Purchase order selected as Document type and Vendors as Print management node type, for one or multiple companies. Then we are going to change the value of the DESTDOCTEMPLATEID column in Excel, which is bound to the selected Docentric template, from @SSRS_BUILTIN_DESIGN@ to @DOCENTRIC_DEFAULT_TEMPLATE@.
Since this setting is part of the print destination settings, which are packed and stored in the database as a container (i.e. a binary field), we also need to change the default value (Yes) of the USEPACKEDPRINTSETTINGS column to No. This way we will instruct the importing logic to take into account the print destination settings values unpacked into the columns whose names start with DEST.
After the import of the modified Excel back to D365FO, we will check Print management settings of the exported and then imported back vendors, and see that the updating procedure of the selected template in bulk via Excel succeeded. All vendors will have setup with @DOCENTRIC_DEFAULT_TEMPLATE@ instead of @SSRS_BUILTIN_DESIGN@ as the selected Docentric template.
- We can export vendor specific Print management settings to Excel and change the value of the DESTDOCTEMPLATEID column from @SSRS_BUILTIN_DESIGN@ to @DOCENTRIC_DEFAULT_TEMPLATE@.
- We have to set the value of the USEPACKEDPRINTSETTINGS column to No.
- After importing the changed Excel back to D365FO, the @DOCENTRIC_DEFAULT_TEMPLATE@ will appear as the selected template in Print management settings for all exported vendors.
